I am a realist. I paint scenes for myself, the people who share my love of a certain spot on the road as they ride or walk by, and for those who could appreciate them should they stop for a moment. I regard our natural world as sacred and I have wandered around in woods, fields and shorelines since childhood. I fear for the loss of the beauty and uniqueness of our land, state forests, natural areas, and shorelines, through our miscalculations and greed.
Illustrating our natural world is challenging and compelling for me and keeps my mind engaged. Since I am happiest when out of doors, landscape paintings are created or conceived on site and inspiration is found through my observations in the woods and farmland of Central Pennsylvania, on the shores of the Maine coast or wherever I might be traveling.
